The first to dare
There’s something people in Japan eat every day without a second thought: the onigiri, a ball of rice filled and wrapped in nori seaweed. Food for travelers, for homemade lunchboxes, with centuries of history behind it. In Buenos Aires, until recently, almost no one knew what it was. Mitingu, in Núñez, was the first to dare to change that.
And that’s where it got hard: bringing in a concept, a product that didn’t exist in Argentina, and having the audacity to bet on it without knowing whether it would connect with people. “That was the biggest challenge,” they tell us. Not copying something already proven, but building a new taste from scratch.
What makes a project like this hold up? For them the answer is simple and difficult at the same time: a group of friends who are truly convinced, each one clear about their role. “When you do things with love, with commitment, with ambition and with drive, everything is much easier.” That’s why they have a different idea of luxury: it’s not in a dish or a single moment, but in the energy created inside the place, in the people, in the love they put into every step.
And that’s where we meet. Because shoes, like projects, are made by walking. They wear down, they get worn in, they tell a story. With Mitingu, more than about shoes, we talked about that: about daring to walk a path no one had walked before, among friends, taking care of the detail in every step.
THANK YOU AXEL AND PEDRO FOR OPENING THE DOORS OF MITINGU.
