THE FAMILY   |   NOVEMBER 2021

Say hello to Marquitos

Marcos Mafia, founder of Mafia Bags, is one of the first DOERS we met in Buenos Aires back in 2012, when we opened our first office and warehouse. Together with Gastón, our co-founder and CEO, they took their first steps into the world of entrepreneurship without knowing that one day they’d reunite in the Big Apple. CHEERS!

Marcos Mafia

While one studied architecture and developed shoes for everyday life, the other was trying to create the perfect bag to carry wetsuits all over the world, made from recycled sails. I know what you might be thinking: there really isn’t a direct, clear connection between the two brands, but at the same time there is. Core values like passion, the desire for adventure, the belief that things can be done differently... keep bringing our paths together. And to us, that’s what truly counts.

Marcos

Always on the move.

And it’s really hard to keep up with Marquitos. By plane, by bike, on a surfboard or on foot... he’s got the energy of all of us combined! See for yourself in one of the latest city tours we did with him. Luckily, the first samples of the LIENZO DE RESISTENCIA were already in the city. Now, back to his mission and why we believe it’s so relevant and inspiring: through the creation of his perfect globetrotting wetsuit bag and a refined collection of versatile backpacks and bags that joined the family later on...

Marcos on the move

Mafia Bags has recycled 16,489 boat sails.

Incredible, right? As Marcos likes to say: “when you get a Mafia Bag, you also get a piece of the ocean, supporting the local community and sustainable practices.” It doesn’t get better than this.

Marcos and Mafia Bags

Thank you Marquitos for being our BROTHER and inspiration.

HERE’S TO OUR NEXT ADVENTURES, TRIPS AND ASADOS TOGETHER!
