Mothers who make history

Mothers who do everything. Mothers who mother, who daughter, who befriend. Mothers who build a team, who stay quiet when it’s needed and make noise when it’s necessary. Mothers who make time even when they don’t have it, who make room for others and make dreams real. Mothers who make a home anywhere. Mothers who make history, every single day.

Meet Dalila Vázquez: one of the owners of Ácido and Olla 7, a mother, a worker, a leader and a hero of Argentine gastronomy.

Since becoming a mother, Dalila says, the world opened up to another dimension. Her priorities fell into place on their own: “motherhood helps you tell apart what’s most important, what’s urgent, what truly requires all of your attention.” Time to work became scarcer, but also more efficient; there’s a very motherly practicality that makes her perform differently and keep feeding her projects with fewer hours but sharper focus.

What transformed her most, though, was something deeper: letting go of control. “I no longer have control; instead I accompany her growth and her process,” she says. Her daughter became her new axis, the one who always brings her back to earth. “It inspires me that she transforms me, and that I get to accompany her life.” Desire placed in a person you created: as simple as it is enormous.

That same motherhood taught her to trust the people by her side. To let go of control not only with her daughter, but with her team: choosing the right people and giving them space. That’s why, when we asked what advice she’d give her daughter, she answered with what she tells herself: “Always trust your intuition and build good teams. No one can do anything alone; we need others to accompany us on the journeys we make.”
