VILELAS KINDERGARTEN, CHACO, ARGENTINA

  • This is a very special place for us; it might be where it all began. This kindergarten was the first to be founded in Vilelas, a rural area near Resistencia, and Lala, Gastón's grandmother (this might be a bit confusing: Gastón has two great-grandmothers who, indirectly, established POSCO's values), was its first teacher. That's why it bears her name, “Dionisia del Pilar Alegre”, as she was, literally, the driving force behind early childhood education in Vilelas.

  • For us, this place does not only hold personal value, but also represents giving back everything it gave us: the best example of effort, empowerment, and working towards a goal. Over the years, we have donated food, school supplies, and collaborated with building renovations, because this small kindergarten shows us every day that no matter what, you have to keep going, keep moving, and keep trying. That's why, for us, it's impossible not to look and want to help (what we often call "giving a hand" in Argentina) and keep Lala's spirit alive.

This place may have been where it all started, but not where it ended.
